Data Sources
Last updated: September 23, 2026
Recovery Meetings displays listings from publicly available sources maintained by each fellowship. We only use feeds that are designed for syndication or publicly accessible without a login. We attribute every source and never charge for access to the data.
How the data works
Some sources are fetched live on each visit (“live”); others are refreshed periodically and bundled (“snapshot”). Live sources always take priority; snapshots serve as a fallback when a live source is unavailable. Meeting counts vary by search location and are approximate.
Meeting details — day, time, location, name, format — are facts that fellowships publish for the public to find meetings. We aggregate them as-is and do not modify the content.
Active sources
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
SE Michigan AA meetings come from AA Ferndale (aaferndale.org) via the TSML / Meeting Guide JSON standard — an open syndication format built specifically for aggregators. Cincinnati AA meetings use the same standard from the Cincinnati Intergroup. Both feeds are unauthenticated with open CORS. Mode: live with snapshot fallback.
Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
Michigan NA meetings come from the Michigan NA BMLT (Basic Meeting List Toolbox) server via the BMLT semantic JSON API — the official open-data standard for NA service structure websites. Unauthenticated and open CORS. Mode: live with snapshot fallback.
SMART Recovery
Listings come from smartrecovery.org via Pathminder, which hosts the official SMART meeting locator. Pathminder has no public JSON API; we parse the publicly rendered meeting listings. Results are coordinate-anchored to the user's location. Mode: live with snapshot fallback.
Women for Sobriety (WFS)
Listings come from womenforsobriety.org via Pathminder, the same mechanism as SMART. Mode: live with snapshot fallback.
LifeRing Secular Recovery
Listings come from lifering.org via Pathminder. Mode: live with snapshot fallback.
Marijuana Anonymous (MA)
Listings come from the public marijuana-anonymous.org meeting data, accessed via the tsml-ui open-source meeting-widget cache — the same JSON the official website's own meeting finder loads. Mode: snapshot (no live source; last refreshed June 2026).
Recovery Dharma
Listings come from recoverydharma.org via the same tsml-ui cache mechanism as MA. Mode: snapshot (no live source; last refreshed June 2026).
Refuge Recovery
Listings come from refugerecovery.org via the same tsml-ui cache mechanism as MA. The feed is publicly accessible with open CORS. Mode: snapshot (no live source; last refreshed June 2026).
Not integrated (official locators only)
The following programs appear in the Pathways directory with direct links to their official meeting finders. We do not aggregate their data.
- Al-Anon / Alateen — al-anon.org
- NAMI (support groups) — nami.org
- Celebrate Recovery — celebraterecovery.com
Organisations
Passenger Recovery, a recovery community organisation with centres in Detroit and Wyandotte, publishes its weekly groups on public calendars at passengerrecovery.com. We list the weekly ones, refreshed on every release. One-off events are not listed.
Removed sources
Passenger Compass was removed in 2026. It was a community-reported Firebase database; its AA/NA/Refuge data duplicated our authoritative feeds and was unverified, which introduced a credibility risk. Its only unique category (NAMI) is now covered by the official NAMI support group locator.
Legal basis
Raw meeting facts (day, time, location, name) are not copyrightable. TSML/Meeting Guide and BMLT are open syndication standards designed to feed apps like this one. Pathminder's meeting pages are publicly accessible; we parse only the facts and do not copy layout or prose. We fetch politely, attribute every source, and do not charge for access to the information.
Recovery Meetings is independent of all listed fellowships and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them. Fellowship names and marks are the property of their respective organizations.
